The Part That Comes After

The funeral happens elsewhere. This room holds the meal and the time with the people who came.

  • No body present
  • Memorial table on request
  • A warm room, a shared meal

Sacred Farewells is a gathering venue and not a funeral home. The funeral itself happens elsewhere, under the care of a licensed funeral provider, and no body is present here. What this room offers is the part that comes after: a warm room, a shared meal and time with the people who came.

Families who wish to may bring cremated remains or a photograph for a small memorial table, and the staff set it with care.

Timed Around the Service

The room is set before the service elsewhere ends, however long the drive.

  • Planned backward from the service
  • Set before guests arrive
  • Extra hours $200 each
Diagram of the rental window: set up, the service of 30 to 45 minutes, the gathering and the meal, then the staff reset that is not counted
The rental window: from walking in to leaving. Staff cleanup is not counted.

The team asks when the service elsewhere begins and plans backward from there. The room is fully set before the service ends, so however long the drive from the chapel or cemetery takes, guests walk into a room that is already warm and ready. Each package includes a set rental window; extra hours are $200 each and arranged before the day.

Tables, Chairs and the Room

Catering, or the Dishes They Loved

Bring the dishes they loved, or order drop-off catering from $15 a person.

  • Bring your own food
  • Drop-off catering from $15
  • Staff set the serving tables

Families choose how the meal happens. Drop-off catering starts at $15 per person, is priced separately from the package and is finalized with each family before anything is ordered. The staff support the setup and the family handles the serving.

Many families would rather serve the dishes their loved one knew best. Bringing your own food is welcome. The staff help carry it in, set out the serving tables and keep the room tidy while everyone eats.

What Does a Reception Cost?

Basic Celebration $1,500, Enhanced Celebration $2,200, Legacy Tribute $2,800. Add-ons are priced separately.

  • $1,500, $2,200, $2,800
  • Add-ons priced separately
  • 25% deposit

At Sacred Farewells in Davie, the same three packages apply whether the room is used for a service or only for the reception: Basic Celebration $1,500, Enhanced Celebration $2,200, Legacy Tribute $2,800. Catering, extra hours and other add-ons are priced separately and shape the final total. A 25% deposit holds the date.

A Reception Alone, or After a Service

Use the room for the gathering only, or hold the service here too and skip the second drive.

  • Reception only
  • Service and meal here
  • Staff handle the change of room

Some families hold the service at their own place of worship or at a chapel and use Sacred Farewells only for the gathering after. Others hold both here: the memorial service in the sanctuary, then the meal in the reception space without anyone getting back in a car. Either way the staff handle setup, sound and cleanup, so no relative spends the afternoon working in the back.

What to Expect on the Day

Someone from the team is in the building from setup until the last guest leaves.

  • Greeted in the foyer
  • Sound and slideshow ready
  • About 2 hours of staff reset

The building, not to scale: one level from the parking lot to the stage.

Someone from the team is in the building from before the room is set until after the last guest leaves. Guests are greeted in the foyer, where a guest book and memory cards wait with Enhanced and Legacy. The sound system is on for a blessing before the meal or for quiet music, and a slideshow can run on the screen if the family brings one. After the family leaves, the staff take about two hours to clear the room and reset it; no relative stays to wash up.

Families who want a short time of words before the meal are welcome to use the sanctuary first. The transition from chairs to tables is handled by the staff while guests greet one another in the foyer.

How the Day Runs

  1. The Sacred Farewells foyer with its wood slat wall and the open doorway into the main room

    Arriving From the Service

Guests come in through the foyer and straight into the reception room. The doors are open, the room is set and the first thing anyone sees is a place to sit down.

  2. Folding tables with white cloths set in the Sacred Farewells room, a cart of linens beside them

Tables Set Before the First Car

Tables and chairs are set before the service elsewhere ends, so guests walk into a room that is ready.

  3. Catering trays, a stack of plates and napkins on the Sacred Farewells kitchen counter

    Food Arrives

Drop-off catering is laid out on the kitchen counter with plates and napkins, or the family's own dishes are carried in and set out by the staff.

  4. Tables set for a meal in the Sacred Farewells room with chairs pulled out and a bowl of fruit

    Time to Be Together

Guests eat, talk and remember at their own pace. When the family is ready to go home, the staff handle every bit of cleanup.

Questions

Something else on your mind? Call (954) 471-3965.

How is the reception timed around the funeral?

The team plans backward from the start of the service elsewhere. The room is set before that service ends, so guests never wait outside a room that is not ready.

What does catering cost for a funeral reception?

Drop-off catering starts at $15 per person and is priced separately from the package. The team confirms the menu and the full amount with the family before anything is ordered.

Can the family bring its own food instead?

Yes. The staff help carry food in, set out the serving tables and keep the room tidy while everyone eats. Bringing food adds to the cleanup, which the staff handle.

Can a reception be booked without a service in the sanctuary?

Yes. The same three packages apply, starting at $1,500, and the sanctuary is there if plans grow.

How many people fit for a reception?

The sanctuary seats up to 300 and the reception space is set for your guest count, so a large extended family can gather in one building instead of splitting between houses.

How long can the reception run?

Each package includes a set window: three hours with Basic and Enhanced, four with Legacy. Extra hours are $200 each and are arranged before the day.
