Celebration of Life Invitation
Put in the name, the date, the place and who it is from, choose a tone, and read the invitation as you go. Edit any line, then copy it into a text, an email or a printed card.

The Invitation
Three tones: warm, simple and faith-centered. The place is filled in for Sacred Farewells; change it for a gathering held elsewhere.
What an Invitation Needs
Who, when, where, what follows and how to reply.
- Name and dates
- Date, time, place
- A meal follows
- Reply to
An invitation for a celebration of life answers five things: whose life, when and where, what will happen, whether a meal follows, and who to reply to so the room can be set for the right number. A line on what to wear or a gift in lieu of flowers is welcome when it is true to the person.

Keep it short enough to read on a phone. A text or an email reaches most people fastest; a printed card can follow for older relatives.
Choosing the Tone
Warm for most families, simple when words are hard, faith-centered when faith was theirs.
- Warm
- Simple
- Faith-centered
Warm opens with the person and invites stories. Simple states the facts plainly, which some families prefer in the first days. Faith-centered calls the gathering a service of thanksgiving and closes with a verse. All three work for a gathering at Sacred Farewells, which is Christian based and led and welcomes every family.
Sending It
Two or three weeks ahead, with a reply date.
- Send early
- Ask for replies
- Count by day five
Send the invitation as soon as the date is held, usually two or three weeks ahead, and ask for replies so you can give the venue a guest count about five days before. The planning checklist dates that step for you, and the food planner turns the count into a catering order.

Is anything I type saved or sent?
No. The invitation is built in your browser and goes nowhere unless you copy it. Reload the page and it starts over from the sample.
Can the venue print the invitation?
Enhanced and Legacy include custom program design and printing for the day itself. Printed invitations are not part of a package; most families send a text or email and print a card at a local print shop.
Should the invitation mention that this is not a funeral?
It can, gently. The sample wording says a celebration of life or a service of thanksgiving, and the guide to the difference explains what guests can expect.

- Planning ChecklistGive it the date and what the day includes. It writes a dated checklist from today to the day itself, in four groups you can tick off, and keeps your ticks in this browser.
- Order of Service BuilderAdd the parts of the service, give each one its minutes and the person who leads it, and see the running order with a finish time. Reorder with the arrows, then print the outline for the program.
- Repast Food PlannerSet the guest count, the dishes and what one tray serves, and see how many trays to order, plus plates, cups, ice and serving spoons. The sample is a full meal for 120.
- Slideshow TimingPut in the number of photographs, how long each one stays and the songs, and see whether the pictures and the music end together, with the fix if they do not.
